Indian culture, often labelled as a combination of several cultures, has been influenced by a history that is several millennia old, beginning with the Indus Valley Civilisation and other early cultural areas. India has one of the oldest continuous cultural traditions in the world.
Indian history
The earliest period of Indian history is the Indus Valley Civilization, which existed from approximately 3300 BCE to 1300 BCE. What were the major empires that ruled India? India was ruled by several major empires, including the Maurya Empire, the Gupta Empire, the Mughal Empire, and the British Raj.
Religion
India is home to a diverse array of religions, with the largest being Hinduism, followed by significant populations of Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Jains. Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, and Jainism are all religions that originated in the Indian subcontinent.
